Referrals are not essential unless it is a WorkCover, Third Party or Department of Veterans Affairs injury. We are able to inform your GP of your treatment and progress. If physiotherapy management is not appropriate or effective for your condition, we can also refer you to an appropriate practitioner.
Your first visit
When you first visit Sapphire Coast Physiotherapy or Snowy Mountains Physiotherapy, you will be given a thorough assessment. Your physiotherapist will explain what’s causing your problem and select the best options for treatment to restore function.
If you are covered through a private health fund, you can claim a rebate for physiotherapy treatment directly at the practice. Remember to bring along your health fund card to each appointment.
Medicare (Enhanced Primary Care Plan)
If your GP has referred you to physiotherapy on an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) Plan you are able to access up to 5 physiotherapy consultations per calender year with a medicare rebate.
Enhanced Primary Care Plans are for eligible people who have a chronic condition; complex care needs.
On the day of your first appointment (or prior) you need to produce your referral and medicare card. The Initial and Standard Physiotherapy consultation fees apply and payment is taken on the day. Our friendly receptionists will then process your payment directly with medicare so the rebate is paid directly into your bank account from Medicare. The current rebate given by Medicare is $ 52.95.
As part of the EPC plan your physiotherapists communicates directly with your referrer.
